Render Grid Doesn't Render Properly in Ubuntu 9.10

Bug Description

In Ubuntu 9.10 (clean install) Inkscape 0.47pre4 r22446, built Oct 15 2009, which is the default Inkscape available through the repository, the grid works perfectly if you want to apply to the entire page. However, in Inkscape 0.46, you could create a rectangle, select the rectangle, and then go to Extensions > Render > Grid and the grid would be rendered inside the rectangle only.

With Inkscape 0.47, this same combination causes vertical lines to appear inside the rectangle and horizontal lines to appear outside the page area. Since these two elements are connected, you cannot move the horizontal lines to match up with the vertical lines without performing some rather complicated hocus pocus with the object and path elements.

This probably doesn't seem like a serious bug to some, but the render grid inside a rectangle feature is the reason why I use and recommend Inkscape over Adobe Illustrator. For me, it is a mission critical feature.

I've seen a similar bug report for this with XP, but there wasn't enough detail to know if it was the same error or not.

This bug is indeed the same as in Bug #401567.

Bug #453048 (also a duplicate of the same bug) gives a workaround with other grids extensions or LPE.

Changed in inkscape:
