cairo output does not render oblique correctly

some fonts have style variants oblique instead of italic.
Those fonts does not render the oblique correctly.
See attached svg and pdf. I used inkscape-0.47pre3.

I get inconsistent results depending on the source of the fonts Inkscape uses with different font configuration files:
a) default (as packaged from trunk) and
b) local (OS X system (dfonts mostly) fonts converted to ttf with fondu)
both versions use separate font caches.

But I still use cairo 1.8.8 whereas you already have cairo 1.9.3.

oops - my mistake - it's not about the font config.
My local build r22362 custom with the default 'fonts.conf' from 0.47pre3-2 exports without garbled text - only 'Bitstream Vera Serif italic' and 'Serif italic' are rendered incorrectly as 'normal' in the PDF (like in '440609-oblique-LeWitt.png', comment 3).

On OS X 10.5.8, inkscape 0.47pre4 and pre3, the italic variant of the font "Bank Gothic" comes out as normal on an exported PDF. Same thing if text is converted to paths at export. I have to convert the text to a path in Inkscape before exporting to get italic in that font in a PDF.

Reproduced on Windows XP, Inkscape 0.48.1, Engreavers, Sylfaen and Rockwell italic fonts.
Not reproduced with revision 10466.
