Ah now ~suv have explained me how to use the new tool: And yes fo inkscape 0.48 my plugin is obsolete...
for the example the sample of Glenn Pipe 'clamp.dxf':
- import and select all pathes (deselect text)
- use node tool <F2>
- Ctrl+A (select all nodes)
- use "join selected nodes" (3. from left)

->all six subpathes are connected, like in my tool ;)
