Inkscape crashes often and unexpected
Using Inkscape on Vista.
Crashes often, not specific to any action or keyboard command.
Computer tells me that Inkscape has found an internal error and will be closed.

This is the message i get:

Inkscape ist auf einen internen Fehler gestossen und wird nun geschlossen.
Unter folgenden Speicherorten wurden automatische Sicherungskopien nicht gespeicherter Dokumente angelegt:

Hi Max,

Could you please try to test with a recent development build? You'll find the latest ones at: http://inkscape.modevia.com/win32/?M=D

It could also be useful to trap more error messages using a small command line program called inkscapec.exe. The whole procedure is explained here: http://kaioa.com/node/63

I downloaded inkscape three weeks ago and have been having the EXACT same problem (albeit w/o the german error messages): crashes often and for no apparent reason due to 'internal error' while running the program in Vista.

But which version did you download? Was it v0.46 or v0.47? I'm assuming it was the latter, but I just want to be sure not to make false assumptions.

Would you be willing to test with the prerelease version 0.48pre1 [1] or a recent development snapshot [2] if these random crashes still occur and paste again the current error status Vista (or your current WIndows version) provides in case of random crashes?

I just fixed this error... it seemed to be caused by one of two things...

a bad preference file... or quserex.dll is missing...

Try the following:

1) delete the 'Inkscape folder' in C:\users\(user name)\AppData\Roaming

2) Launch Inkscape

or

1) reinstall quserex.dll by uninstalling and reinstalling the open libraries at:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/openlibraries/files/openlibraries/0.4.0/openlibraries-0.4.0-sdk.exe/download

2) Launch Inkscape.

I luv teh INKSCAPE!
