one more interesting thing I just noticed as I ran into this bug again..
If you have the lines going up to the top left corner, double click there to begin editing the text as nodes. There is a node there at that top left corner which you can drag (to adjust the offset). Drag that node close to the text, and then undo. You will notice that the artifact is still there, and the moving of the node is not undone. ie, the node is in the position you dragged it to. Repeating this process by moving the node to a 3rd location, and undoing again, yields the same result: artifacts still present, and the node is in the same location you dragged it to this time.
Hope that helps narrowing down the cause of this.
