I just want to emphasize, why I need the bounding box to be bigger than the drawing:
In chemistry, especially chemical drawings, empty space carries information!
Mostly meaning: There is nothing attached to that atom at that place.
This is important if you place two drawings side by side in a document.
Imagine two drawings having chemical symbols at the same height, one at the right edge of the canvas, the other on the left edge of the canvas.
When there is no space at the edges of the canvas and those drawings are put side by side, the two chemical symbols count as connected by a chemical bond, because there is no space in between them.
The bad thing is: Sometimes this connection makes sense and the error is not obvious at a first glance.
