I'll check it out.

I'm also working with LaTeX (The last people who are interested in eps?). And for me a tight bounding box is not desirable.
In my work flow sketches from BKchem (0.13) are converted from .svg with Inkscape to .eps to stuff them into my LaTeX-files.
BKchem set's the canvas to (tightboundingbox + 10 px) in each direction automatically. That's perfect.
Even if this should not be clean eps, I'd like an option to force a bounding box bigger than the drawing itself. Inkscape is free to warn me about that.

So, if this is not a bug, is it a feature request?
Perhaps someone could enlighten me: Does the code of Cairo need to be changed for that? (There was a discussion about that in this thread, but I just didn't get what the result was.)
