Bug Description

Binary package hint: inkscape

I do the following:
1) Starting with a new document
2) Zoom to 100%
3) Turn on grid (Shift-#)
4) Create a perfect circle with a radius divisible by 10 px - in other words, grid lines touch the top, bottom, left, right, and they run through the center.
5) Set starting angle of the new circle to 270 and end angle to 90 degrees
6) Go into pointer mode
7) Attempt to resize the circle using the right horizontal arrow.

The circle becomes a vertical line; the horizontal radius jumps to zero.

If I use Shift or Control to resize or draw the circle without grid lines, this does not happen.

I am using Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04 beta and Inkscape 0.46-5ubuntu1

A pre-release of the upcoming Inkscape 0.47 is now available in Ubuntu
Karmic for testing. Because *so* much stuff has changed compared with
the version you reported your bug against, would you mind re-testing
this new version and see if this bug is now resolved?

Karmic Alpha CD ISO images are available at:

  http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/karmic/

If you're not testing Karmic yet, there are .debs of this new Inkscape
for Jaunty, Hardy, and Intrepid here:

  https://launchpad.net/~inkscape.testers/+archive/ppa

You might find further bugs when testing this alpha release. If that is
the case, please file a NEW bug report here:

   https://edge.launchpad.net/inkscape/+filebug

Thanks ahead of time for your testing efforts, and enjoy the new Inkscape!

I couldn't reproduce this bug in karmic with Inkscape 0.47~pre4-0ubuntu1, so it's possible that it has already been fixed. Would you mind trying it with the latest version of Inkscape too?

reproduced with Inkscape 0.47+devel r8896 on OS X 10.5.8

This only happens when bounding box snapping is off and node snapping is on (snapping toolbar):
Dragging the bbox resize handle on the right side: the semi-circle collapses to a vertical line.
Dragging the bbox resize handle on the left side: the semi-circle extends indefinitely to the right side.

Disabling node-snapping allows resizing of the half-circle with despite visible grid.
Enabling bounding box snapping on the toolbar does not trigger this bug and overrides the node snapping mode.

Ah, I have finally managed to reproduce this! Thanks @~suv for the extra hints. I have attached an SVG containing the shape which I used.
