Clicking on taskbar doesn't minimize window

Bug Description

When I open Inkscape 0.46 (which I just upgraded to) and then try to minimize it by clicking on the taskbar icon (in Windows Vista), Inkscape does not minimize itself. There is a very brief moment when the window disappears but it then redraws itself (If I set my laptop to "Power Saver" mode this delay is longer). I've used Inkscape 0.45 quite a bit and have never had problems with minimizing... Do you think this has something to do with the new docking features?

All the other applications I use on a regular basis (Firefox, Thunderbird, Pidgin, Office, etc.) minimize when I click on the taskbar. This isn't a huge issue, but it is would be nice to figure out what is causing the problem and/or fix it.

I can confirm on WinXP, you can minimize it with the Minimize button on the application title bar but not using the taskbar button.

Changed in inkscape:
importance: Undecided → Low
status: New → Confirmed

Also, when I click on the taskbar to restore a maximized window, it is no longer maximized (it resets to the default value for when inkscape starts). Like prkos, I found that you can use the title bar to minimize. Also, if you right click on the taskbar and select minimize from the context menu, you can minimize the window.

Does anyone know what is going on here?

I can confirm this too (on Windows XP).

With the second problem (failing to restore maximized state), it seems from a brief flicker in the top-left corner of the screen that it does in fact very briefly restore the maximized state, but then resizes itself. (Very occasionally it stays maximized.)

So it seems that (for both problems) the correct behaviour does occur initially, but is then rapidly followed by the incorrect behaviour.

Yep, can confirm this, too. On both Windows XP and Windows Vista.

Can't minimize over the taskbar button. It minimizes and restores directly thereafter (not to maximized state but to 'normal' state).

Also, if i minimize a tool window (like the icon preview) it minimizes the whole app instead of only the tool window.

The minimizing problem no longer exists in development builds. The other problem that squinchify mentioned (not restoring the maximized state) is still there.

Closing this, as the minimization problem was fixed a while ago. I think it was fixed by a library change rather than a change in any Inkscape code.

(The maximization problem mentioned in the comments remains, but is covered by bug 222065.)

Nikita: It's fixed in SVN (what will be Inkscape 0.47, currently under development).
You can get a "nightly build" from inkscape.org and test the new features and fixes.
The SVN version has some bugs, but there are lots of 0.46 bugs already fixed and it's quite stable, so I recommend you to try it.
