Yes, confirmed. In 0.46 the open XML editor does not allow the other window to open / get focus until the first document is closed. In the SVN version the XML editor is modless and correctly switches context between two open documents. Supposed this could be fixed in 0.46 then unless this required too many changes in which case it could be sensible to close XML editor on new file open in 0.46
