Bug Description
Mockup of Request: http://
The mockup best explains the request, but here's a brief description:
The proposed feature would require the inclusion of a new menu item in the "Text" menu, and probably a toolbar item, as well. When you execute the feature, it will make sure there is text highlighted, and if not, do nothing, and if there is, it will store into memory the "included text" and all text after the "included text" (separately). From that point, it will somehow (I'm not familiar with Inkscape's internals) determine the point where the text before the "included text" ended, and create a new text object at that point. It will then do the same for the text that was after the "included text," effectively creating a second text object, for a total now of three text objects.
I would not recommend changing this method to instead replace the "included text" with spaces, and then just place a new text object on top of the old. This would limit the overall efficacy of the solution.
A second request of mine would be to add an "underline" method, which will add a rectangle object below the selected text. (and would aesthetically resemble the result of an underline in, say, Microsoft Word) Yes, a user _could_ do this with the rectangle tool and even have more power that way, however, for rapid desktop publishing, a user wanting a quick and easy way to underline text would likely find this very useful.
Thanks in advance for your consideration,
Adam Doyle
