Bug Description

In the Effects Live Preview, once turned off, can't be turned off, even after unticking the box.
But some options are not updated, like in the Spirograph where changes to the the Gear Placement radio button is not reflected in the Live Preview, wheter or not Preview is on. Toggling the Preview tickbox will fix it.

Inkscape 0.46dev Dec.31 build on Windows Vista

I meant, "once turned on". And "whether". Hmm.

In order to get around the "live preview" effect, you need to :
- check the "Pin Dialog" box
- edit the parameters as desired
- uncheck the "Pin Dialog" box
- then click 'OK'

this will allow you to modify the parameters as much as you like with no live preview

Sounds more like a workaround than a fix. I don't know what the Pin dialog is for, it makes the OK button into an Execute, but it doesn't do anything in the current build, like update the preview. The name doesn't give an indication either.
Obviously both tick boxes are broken, otherwise it's just bad UI.
I'd expect the Preview to go off once the tickbox is unchecked, like in every other program and webpage I can think of. That's how they work, it's a toggle button.

Also, when the 'pin dialog' button is checked, 'close' button doesn't do
anything ( you can still close the window using the close box in the
window's title bar). (Fedora 6, svn rev 16895, 12/31/07)
