Essentially, you need to get the cairo SVN code, take this patch: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=99752&action=view, apply the patch to cairo, and build it. Then, rebuild Inkscape using this library. Then fire up Inkscape and see if it prints.

There are some more detailed directions about building Inkscape for Windows at http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Win32Port. I haven't ever built Inkscape on Windows, so don't know how up to date that page is, but perhaps it will give clues. Ishmal is the best person to ask for advice if you run into trouble. You might find it helpful to try catching him on IRC/Jabber.

Simon, thanks greatly for offering to test this. I know it can be a bit of a challenge, but this is something that could greatly help out the project.
