true, I hadn't tried that, thought it's pretty obvious now that you
mention it.

BUT, it would be good to have a GUI way of doing it, for example:
- draw a shape
- select it
- right click on the layer you want to clip
- clip > set (or mask > set)
Or something similar from the Layers menu.
