Layer and Object Manager

Layer and Object Manager like in Adobe Illustrator, so you can easily gain
access to objects.

This could be solved with the following additions to the XML tree viewer:
1) Streamlined view mode added (current mode can be kept).
  - SVG codes <svg: " "> are removed for clarity.
  - Object type is shown a icon (image/rectangle/path/text)
2) Right Click (context) menu is available on selected objects. Menu is the same as with a 3D selection
3) Multiple Selection of objects to be possible.

2 & 3 are to allow functions the same as in 3D such as group/ungroup, reorder and layer modification as well as delete and property modification.

I'd vote for CorelDraw Object Manager functionality as far as possible:

Ease of use and ability to drag/drop between layers, right-click and apply group/ungroup, change stacking order etc, or open object properties dialogues directly in a 'Layer Manager' view is the killer app that keeps me having to use CorelDraw.

Its ideal for detailed Web site screen mocks etc where grid/chrome/dummied content etc is fairly static, but complex object groups can have print/export visiblity altered to change the mocked state of, say, a cascading menu or 'spinner' loading area before export. Having to try to select across mulitple layer by click is a real pain when you have a lot of such features stacked on the same 'page' template.

Dear Cson, please do not hammer on feature requests. We know there are some very old requests. Unfortunately we can not fullfill every request (which is nevertheless impracticable) and our development capacity is limited. Thanks for understanding.

Object dialog feature was introduced in 0.92, so I guess this is fixed. http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Release_notes/0.92#Objects_Dialog
