An obvious workaround seems to c/p from Inkscape to
Freehand, and from Freehand to Flash.

But this is suboptimal. Copy and paste is primal in application
integration, and should be worked carefully in every program.

This said, I feel that it has something to do with GTK, more
than with Inkscape itself -- to copy/paste from Gedit, for
example, I *must* have the selected text open in the editor
(I can't just open, copy, close it, and paste somewhere else).
It seems that Gedit does not really copy the selection to
memory, but instead sets a pointer. That may happen as well
with other applications.
