Windows Vista: the selected items in the menu are white!

In Windows Vista, when you select the menu items, the color is white and
text is invisible.

this sounds familiar,
I think there is a known issue with GTK themes
does this happen only with Inkscape or does it also affect other GTK
applications on your system like the GNU Image Manipulation Program, Dia,
or perhaps some other GTK application?

If you want to try and fix this sooner you might be able to search the web
and find the existing answers to this or similar problems (or you can wait
and see if the inkscape developers know what is happening). It might also
help encourage developers to spend time on this if you registered or at the
very least signed your name, otherwise they cannot know if you will ever
come back and read the answers which could take a lot of time and effort to
find out.

The sourceforge link gave me this error:

"This Artifact Has Been Made Private. Only Group Members Can View Private ArtifactTypes"

Is there another way to view this bug?

Since we migrated to launchpad, older bugs are accessible using the nickname 'sfNNNNNNN' where NNNNNNN is the old sourceforge bug number (the part after 'aid=' in the url)

That bug is marked as having been fixed? What version of inkscape (and of Vista) are you using? Can you try one of the latest 0.46 preview releases to see if the bug is still present?

yup, this one has been fixed, you need a current development version of inkscape to see the fix though...
