Which version of Inkscape are you using? With a recent version:
- the crop box and the media box of the pdf seem to be the same: the page
border. hence I cannot see objects outside the page
- pdf exported by Inkscape with objects outside the page are included just
fine in latex documents with pdflatex and I don't see the objects outside
the page
It would be particularly helpfull to know which version of Cairo your PDF
exporter is using. Mine is 1.4.6.
