I wonder whether this bug has been fixed completely. I use Inkscape 0.47 on Ubuntu 9.10, and I still have problems exporting patterns and gradients to PDF in Inkscape (and using rsvg-convert). In particular, I have a problem when I use the pattern or gradient in the stroke attribute, not in the fill attribute. Things are fine when I export to PNG though.
