Just stumbled upon this bug. I would only add that my first try was to print the document with pattern. Unfortunately only background color of the document was printed (red background with vhite stripes 1:1). After several tries to get my drawing somehow to output, I did it by exporting page to PNG format. PDF exort did the same, also printing to PDF using external PDF printer (PDF creator)
Printing patterns does not work for me. Using Inkscape 0,46 on windows. (XP/VIsta)
