Distortion from "Pattern Along Path" is not predictable by curvature

See the attached example image. On the top panel I have used the path effect to apply a (repeated) pattern along the path. The deformation appears on one side, not the other, even though the path itself is symmetrical. That means it is not a simple function of the path's curvature, as would be intuitive.
The same effect isn't seen using the extension with the same settings and deformation type "snake".

This is using Inkscape 0.91 installed via the package version 0.91.0+47~ubuntu14.04.1.

Oh, sorry for not checking that! Guess in hindsight it's obvious bug reports should only be filed about the latet revision...

Could you point me to the number of the bug? I compiled 0.92pre3 and see the same behaviour, so I'd like to check it's actually the same issue.

Anyway the path provided is problematic. Has 4 cuts but positioned as without them. This kind of paths is normal give unespected results. Anyway your problem streching the dots is fixed, but happends anothers. Maybe is better fix the path.
