As I was making a test file, I discovered that it might not be the gradient which triggers it. In this test file, a simple blur causes it to happen. testHSL092a.svg
Hhm, after further testing, the problem happens with neither blur nor gradient in the file. See testHSL092b.svg where I see the erroneous display with simple fills.
