My recommendation would be to start with committing the changes to both
branches if you are confident about the stability and
backwards-compatibility of the code, and close this report as 'Fix
released', and bug #172137 as 'Fix Committed'.

will provide a lot of reliable and specific feedback (apart from the now

In hindsight, I probably just wanted to emphasize that discussions about
default shapes (pattern widths or powerstroke offsets) should be
followed up elsewhere (i.e. not in this report) - be it a specific new
report filed once the changes have been committed, or on the devel
mailing list. It was also meant to encourage testing by other members of
the bug team (or whoever followed the recent comments here and in
(related) bug #172137).
