Bug Description

Warning: the bug described appeared during the creation of a specific document. The attached file is derived (i.e. cut/paste) from that document. I have not been able to reproduce the issue starting from scratch.

Inkscape 0.91, Win7 64 bit.

The attached document contains a group of two circles and a text. Enter the group, then select the text and whichever of the two circles, and then "text"->"text on path".

The text is put on the path, but mirrored (i.e. it does not read right, no matter how you turn your head!).
Flipping the path does not help, nor does it flipping the text on path. Flipping the text before trying to put it on the path yields the correct result (as the text if flipped again then put on the path, so it ends up straight).

If the group is ungrouped before performing the operation, there is no problem.

Giacomo

This description does not match the file actually attached to the report: Neither the two circles (nor the text object) are inside a group, and the reported issue does not reproduce.

You probably either attached the wrong file (saved after having ungrouped the mentioned group) or somehow managed to move the objects outside of a (now empty apart from more empty nested groups) group on the same layer - a group which had been vertically flipped and scaled.

To allow further investigation, please attach either the test case as originally described, or the file from which it was derived from - presumably the original file was a PDF or PostScript file imported/opened in Inkscape (this type of import has the characteristics that due to the different coordinate systems between PDF/PS and SVG the content is on a layer which is vertically flipped and scaled).

Sorry for the mistake; the correct file should now be attached.

Yes, the original group was obtained by importing a PDF file. I did not realize this was a known issue.

Reproduced as expected with second test case - proposing to link as duplicate to bug #938558 for now (that report has different examples how to “intentionally” reproduce the observed 'mirroring' of text put on path if applied inside a flipped group/layer, apart from the affected PDF/PostScript imports).
