Just an idea: why not adding a DPI Inkscape field, if it's not present it's taken as 90 DPI (old behavior) otherwise it should state 96. In this way the need for translation of pixel values would be more easily recognizable.
Also, in the future this DPI value could become specifiable by the user, giving more power to the "real" px unit.
