Maybe (at the current state where it is not run automatically after loading a document) the extension could have an option (an alternative action) to provide information about the current state (size, default units, units for page size, etc.) of the document (without applying changes yet), so that the user could make a better informed decision without actually opening 'Document Properties' and likely changing properties prematurely which makes it impossible to "fix" the old unchanged format.
