I tested on a Linux 0.48.3 r9886, the behaviour is different, I get the following error:

"Le fichier /bla/bla/Sheet1.dxf n'a pas pu être enregistré."
... which translates to something like:
"File /bla/bla/Sheet1.dxf could not be saved."
