I have tested again with Farsi and Telugu texts, and the bug can be reproduced on Windows XP with 0.48.5, but is fixed with the trunk, revision 13740 (both versions use the same devlibs regarding fontconfig/pango/freetype).
The bug could also be dependent of both Inkscape and some dependencies...
