When saving a file (either by saving as, or export PNG) in Inkscape GNOME, the file is never shown in the "Recent files" either in the file browser or subsequent times a save dialog is shown.
I am pretty sure Inkscape will make some calls to GTK's "RecentManager" for them to show up:
