inkscape does not export to PDF nicely with PNG with mask

Hello,

I imported a PDF file that contains some PNG with transparency. It was developed in LO impress.
I imported this file in inkscape. No problem at all when it is kept as svg. When I save it to PDF or PNG, all transparency
is converted to opaque areas, gets weird gradients or just disapears.

I'll attach:
0) the original file.
1) original imported in inkscape and exported as PDF (PNG figures gets opaque bkground colors)
2) removed most of elements and saved as SVG (no visual problem. The blue bkground is from a lower layer)
3) saved as PDF (one PNG figure gets a strange gradient effect. The others just disaperared)
4) changed the SVG unit from px to cm and saved as PDF (all PNG figures gone!)

The last one is really strange. I though doc unit was just an "interface convention".

I'm using inkscape Inkscape "0.48+devel r13056" in ubuntu (about is not showing this but I got from dpkg).
