The attached SVG produces a blank page when a copy is saved as PDF. (Note, if saved as PDF directly it crashes the program).

It appears as blank in Okular. Gimp appears to be able to import correctly however. I suspect there must be a minor issue with the output format as I don't recall this issue with Okular with any other PDFs.

Inkscape 0.48.3.1 r9886

The PDF works in AcroRead. I've changed the title to reflect this. I suspect this is something minor, but I'll also go file the issue with Okular.

PDFs created by Inkscape show a blank page when viewed. The same PDF (example attached) views fine in Adobe Reader and can be imported correctly by Gimp.

I've also added an issue for Inkscape since I think they might have a problem as well: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1104385

Reproducible: Always

The attached PDF file (cairo 1.10.2) renders ok in
- Evince 2.30.3 (poppler 0.18.4, cairo 1.12.2)
- Apple's Preview.app 5.5.2 (719.25), OS X 10.7.4
- poppler-glib-demo (poppler 0.22.0, cairo 1.12.10)

Shows fine here, though it takes a bit too much to display (How much time have you waited?).

Anyway we don't handle rendering of pdf files directly, it is done through the poppler library. If you feel like it is too slow please open a but against poppler at https://bugs.freedesktop.org/

Thanks for caring about Okular :)

If I wait about 10-20 seconds it does eventually appear. I'll go file a but at poppler since this is very long (considering all other programs show it immediately).

I'm not sure this is actually a poppler issue. On the same system (Ubuntu 12.04 LTS with updates) the poppler utilities (same poppler libs) have no problem with this PDF. For example pdftocairo is under a second and epdfview can display it near instantly.

Versions:
libpoppler-glib8 0.18.4-1ubuntu3
okular 4:4.8.5-0ubuntu0.1
epdfview 0.1.8-1build1

I have 4GB free RAM at the time and my CPU is a AMD FX(tm)-8150, so I don't think my computer speed is an issue.

According to the Okular report (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=313845), it could be an issue in Poppler.

@edA-qa - Did you file a report for Poppler?
There are some reports about very slow files, but I can't see which one could be linked to the Inkscape (or Okular) report.

No, I did not file a bug in poppler since the installed poppler demos do not cause a problem. That is, it is not possible to reproduce the error using just popular, only via Okular. You can see the details in the Okular issue -- along with a comment from the maintainer that I don't know what I'm talking about, thus I gave up pursuing the issue.

Not reproduced on Ubuntu 14.04 (VM, 64bit; host: OS X 10.7.5): Evince 3.10.3 and Okular 0.19.2 take about the same time to render the PDF file from comment #3. Installed poppler version: 0.24.5

Closing as 'Invalid' for project Inkscape (seems to have been fixed in newer poppler releases).
