No more feedback provided - I'm assuming that the latest version (Inkscape 0.48.3.1) solved the reported issue, and will link this report as duplicate to bug #805095.
Please add a comment here and revert the duplicate status if you don't agree and think these are different issues (e.g. because Inkscape 0.48.3.1 didn't fix the problem with saving on your system).
