Small video capture of the flashing effect on the indicator Edit (93.4 KiB, video/ogg)

Quick demonstration of the effect i mentioned is attached, as a recordmydesktop ogv video capture

Turning off alternate locations will not solve the issue, it'll still be there open and taking up all of the CPU. Also, the involved processes will only occasionally stay dead, they typically respawn, taking again all of the CPU.
