Bug Description

Worked For a few days, but now for some unknown reason, i cannot set a Manual frequency of 2.10Ghz on my DV6. Its the maximum Frequency i can select, but when i do, it changes back to 1.2Ghz. Setting it to Performance Mode gets rid of the dots next to the frequencies, but laptop is painfully slow and i believe that it is still running at the 1.2ghz speed.

Tried a Re-Install of the applet in 11.10 Oneiric to not avail.

Strange, I have a DV6 laptop too and things work perfectly. Do you have cpufreqd or cpufrequtils packages installed?

I do have cpufreqd installed, but not the Utils. Should they be installed as well ? It worked for a while, but after an update it just reverts to 1.2ghz . Should i uninstall the cpufreqd, or make sure both of those packages are installed?

You should *uninstall* it, that's right.

And there are no preferences currently, no need for them.

Okay, not a problem. I saw screenshots of a Preferences Dialog but that was on Gnome 2.3 Overall i love this app.

I do not have either of those packages installed, and i have re-installed the applet but it still reverts back to 1.20 Ghz

Chris, please make sure you don't have cpufreqd running in the background after deinstalling it (reboot the system).

i have uninstalled all packages, and rebooted many times. Unfortunately it still does not work. indicator-cpufreq installs a package called libcpufreq0 as well, is this normal? i cannot remove it without removing the indicator. This only happened recently after an upgrade in packages. Perhaps it is a new upgrade package conflicting?

Okay, just checking if you're not having the same problem as bug 776862. The libcpufreq0 dependency is normal. Gonna look into this tonight, not sure if the upgrade is guilty, but you can send me your upgrade log directly (/var/log/dpkg.log) so I can see what conflicting packages you may have installed.
