Hi!

The whole social desktop idea doesn't make sense if you have to open individual programs to make the overview work! This may not be a bug as such but a major conceptional flaw. The idea of an indicator applet should be to get all the information you can get on your communicational status with one quick look. (programs should then open by clicking on the messages)

By the way:

A "You have new mail!"-message works on every other desktop system I know.
On the other hand I do understand that evolution is a brand new addition to the gnome desktop and not yet fully integrated.
I'm sure it will in the future ...
