Having said that, this is still happening. on various systems of mine, with different display drivers: I don't think it's a display driver issue.
Some have noted that this happens or persists after a system upgrade where the home directory is preserved - so old dot-file configuration options may still exist.
Has the upstream Gnome bug report been kept up-to-date?
