Display issue with the FA1011-NP/C/T HDMI Lilliput monitor

When we use the FA1011-NP/C/T HDMI Lilliput monitor with the Snowball board we notice that the ubuntu desktop is not sized correctly. Indeed the launcher on the left hand side is partially masked for example.

I have th eexact same problem under Android (both Gingerbread and ICS), except that not only there is missing pixels on the left and right sides but also on the top and bottom...

The problem is probably due to the Lilliput having a non vesa/cea standard definition: 1024x600, so it seems necessary to interpret the custom timing settings provided by th escreen, instead of just picking the correct predefined resolution...

I've tried the display (or at least with something similar, I'm not sure of the exact model) with the 2012.03(.1) images and the issue is present.

Which is not surprising since no fix has been attempted. I will unassign this from me since I won't be working towards a solution currently.
