Bug Description

Hi,
I've installed the latest version of the hplip printer driver ver. 3.12.4 and am getting garbidge output.

The Linux version I'm using is Mint version 12 with a HP1606dn duplex printer.

I am able to print a test print OK (print test page in pdf is attached)

However when I print a document all I get is garbidge (jpg attached).

I thought I might have had a conflict of drivers as the test page tells me I've got version 3.11.7 installed.

I had difficulty installing the plugin and ran hp-setup in root which then downloaded the plugin.

I attach a copy of hp-check -t output below.

Any thoughts what I should do?

Also I have difficulty getting it to print in Duplex. There's no opportunity to switch to duplex.

Regards,
Ciaran

Note: hp-check can be run in three modes:
1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling the HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to
determine if the proper dependencies are installed to successfully compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already
built HPLIP supplied tarball has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode will check both of the above cases (both compile-
and run-time dependencies).

Hi Ciaran,

To analyse this issue we request you to please provide us some more logs following the below steps.

1. Open file /etc/cups/cupsd.conf in write mode and replace the line
LogLevel warn with
LogLevel debug
hpLogLevel 15

2. Restart the cups.
   sudo service cups restart

3. Clear the syslog and error_log files.
    sudo cat /dev/null > /var/log/syslog
    sudo cat /dev/null > /var/log/cups/error_log

4. Print the document which is giving the garbage output.

5.Capture the log files
   sudo cat /var/log/syslog > ~/Desktop/syslog.txt
   sudo cat /var/log/cups/error_log > ~/Desktop/error_log.txt

Attach us the syslog.txt & error_log.txt files

6. In /tmp folder you will find files with name starting with hpcups like, hpcupsfilterc_1.bmp, hpcupsfilterk_1. bmp, hpcups_jobX.out. Please attach us these files too.

Let us know if you are having any difficulty in capturing the logs.

Sorry for the trouble.

Thanks & Regards,
Goutam kodu
