I have seen this issue too. Printer stops printing after first page.

I am able to replicate the problem using the print settings dialog box in Open Office Word processor and printing on draft grayscale mode. Other modes have no problem. It seems that this settings would come in conflict with the HP Device Manager setting.

As a workaround, I do not adjust my settings in Open Office more importantly not setting in draft grayscale. However, such adjustments were done in the HP device settings.

You can try such settings for the meantime.

Hi, I am having the same problem with my recently bought printer D1660 in my Mandriva 2010.1. For the meantime I have to use a virtualized Windows to be able to use it.
Really it's frustrating to try to use it in these conditions. I hope this problem could be solved soon.

hello, also I have an HP D1660 and indeed only prints the first page of a document, it is quite annoying to have to virtualize windows to use the printer properly, I hope will be resolved soon.

Ainda não tivemos uma solução para o problema da HP D1660 No Ubuntu, onde ela para de imprimir após a primeira página num documento contínuo. A dica é não comprar HP D1660 para usar com Ubunto. O HPLIP 3.10.9 não está funcionando no Ubuntu também, dá erro na instalação. Triste não ter compatibilidade desta impressora com o Linux. O interessante é que quando instalo a impressora pela primeira vez, ela funciona. Basta desconectar ou desligar que ela não funciona mais.

We still do not have a solution to solve this problem. Do not buy hp d1660 to use it with ubuntu. HPLIP last version does not work properly too, it fails on instalation process. Its sad and boring we can not buy freely printing systems to use with ubuntu. i am going back to WINDOWS 7, so there i can use my printer.

I can confirm this behavior as well. The HP Deskjet D1660 will only print the first page of a multi-page document, after which hplip returns an error. The problem only occurs when "Draft Grayscale" image quality is selected. The printer draws the second page in and has it all lined up for printing, but then it just stops and a few seconds later the printing service reports the error.

Attached is the CUPS error log with LogLevel set to debug. The first indication (to me) that things are going south occurs at line 812, just before page 2 starts processing:

And then hpcups crashes on line 941, causing pdftoraster to terminate as well:
