Bug Description

Using Ubuntu 10.04 and HPLIB Toolbox with a HP deskjet D2680. The computer will tell me that the print out is successful but I get no printout. The program knows everything about the printer and can clean the ink jets.
But I get no error on print command. Nothing moves and just tells me everything ok.
I never see a print out. The align ink jet works fine. So it seems to ignore print jobs.

Hi there - I can repeat just about everything in this bug description except the printer number - in my case that's D2660. I have installed the 64-bit version of Ubuntu before where the situation seemed worse, so I have come back to the 32-bit version (which itself is great) but cannot find the hp-check command so cannot dredge for dependencies. Thus I'm stuck with a silent printer. TIA for any future assistance, mumper13.

Same here. On Lucid 10.04, My D2668 HPLIB says Job completed, however there is no physical printout from the printer.

No entry in /var/log/cups/error_log worth a mention

/var/log/cups/access_log shows the following entries

localhost - - [04/Jun/2010:16:55:46 +0530] "POST /printers/Deskjet-D2600-series HTTP/1.1" 200 205797 Print-Job successful-ok

Ok thanks, I am glad to see someone else has similar problem. Not to bash
this, but it does make me feel good this can be fixed if we nag the HP or
Ubuntu people. I see a solution in the mist,

I am having the same problems as these gents.
At first my netbook didn't recognise the printer at all (HPdeskjet D2668) but when I changed USB ports it came up.
Now when I print the computer tells me that the job is complete but nothing is printed.
I am using Ubunto 10.04 on Netbook.

I got it to work
First I started over in installing the printer
then I selected printer in administration
There were two drivers available
I selected this one and everything began to work.

HP Deskjet d2600 Series, hpcups 3.10.2

Hope this helps for everyone else

Guys I've had the very same problem with HP D2663. It was recognized by default but did not work.
After googling around I discovered the solution: you should install the hplip-cups package and use the driver (PPD file) from hplip-cups, not from hplip.

Other solution is to install hplip provided by HP (this includes command line, building etc.). Once you install hplip, it will prompt you to re-plug your printer. Don't forget to delete the auto-recognized printer, otherwise it won't let you set up the new driver.

please do check https://bugs.launchpad.net/hplip/+bug/599956 - is it really MY luck or the hplip drivers do not work?

Changed in hplip:

Developers at HP, it seems that the mentioned printer models do not work with version 3.10.2 which ships with Ubuntu Lucid LTS (Long Term Support) but they work again with the latest version. Can you provide a patch to fix the problem in 3.10.2, so that we can fix HPLIP in Lucid LTS? Thanks.

I installed hplip-3.10.6 from source, in ubuntu 10.10 beta, and the problem is the same since ubuntu 10.04.
