I thank you for your reply, but I'm sure that the problem is not related to or caused by Firefox.

I could cause the problem with every application when I chose "grey scale" and "BLACK + Color". Only if I've chosen "gray scale" & "black" OR "color" & "black + color" it worked.

On Oct. 29th I'll switch to ubuntu 9.10 and then we'll see if the problem persists or if it's gone.
