After fiddling with my ADSL modem's DHCP server, I put the Officejet printer back on 192.168.1.102, re-installed the printer in hp-systray and promptly had the printer spit out a fraction of a page worth of print-out.
It should be possible to cancel a print job without needing any printer installed on any specific location.
