Ubuntu 9.04 HP OfficeJet 7680 Printing Legal Size

Using Ubuntu 9.04 with OfficeJet Pro 7680 All-In-One via network

We have used this printer without any trouble in Ubuntu 8.10 HPLIP 2.8 except one quirk. In order to print legal size page, we had to make sure that the page size (Legal) was set in printer properties and HPLIP Device Manager as well. Once those conditions were met Legal pages printed fine.

Now that we have Ubuntu 9.04, we cannot get Legal Page to print from Word Processor (Using both Word 2003 under cx Linux and Open Office Writer 3.01) no matter if print properties and device manager are both set to legal.

However, we have found that converting the document to pdf ( with OO) and printing the document with Adobe Acrobat the legal size page prints fine!

Printing from Word or OO Writer gives us a document that is shifted up exactly three inches. The top of the document is missing and the bottom three inches are blank.

Since we print a fair number of legal page documents for our work, we would really like some help in figuring this out.

This is an annoying problem if you need to print legal size documents. In order to work around this problem, I have to setup a PDF printer, print the document to PDF file and then print it to legal size paper. I cannot print legal size from Word or Open Office.

Thanks for the response! I have run the apport collection as requested. We have not attempted to print legal documents lately. (outside of acrobat) If you need further attempts with resulting cups error log, just let me know.

So, does this mean that the gui is not handling the papersize command properly?
