Compist:

Your advice is very dangerous because of printfile format differences between CUPS (Mac and Linux) and Windows. With many HP printers (including my experience with the HP Officejet 5610 All-in-One) following Compist's advice will jam the printer queue on the Windows machine being used as a print server. The only way to un-jam the printer queue if this happens is:

(1) Shut down the printer.
(2) Reboot the Windows computer to which the printer was attached, while the printer remains shut down.
(3) Delete all jobs submitted from CUPS computers from the queue(s).
(4) Remove the samba connections to windows print ques from all CUPS machines. Do NOT ever install them again.
(5) Turn the printer back on if you can use it with the Windows machine only.
