@brian_p, how can we bring this issue to the attention of those who can address it? There already is an accompanying question https://answers.launchpad.net/hplip/+question/677937 that seems not to have received much attention.
Should we mark bugs https://bugs.launchpad.net/hplip/+bug/1811504 and https://bugs.launchpad.net/hplip/+bug/1821932 as duplicates? That would, if I understand that correctly, increase the "bug heat" of this one.
