I can also confirm the very same bug on Fedora 26 running 3.17.11-3.fc26

I was trying to connect an HP Deskjet 3050 j610 printer to a WiFi network with a hidden SSID and WPA2 protection. After ~1h of fighting with hplip I opened another Access Point without any protection and with a public SSID, connected the printer to it using hplip (without any hassle) and opened the embedded website where I specified the correct credentials of the original, protected network. Everything worked as expected thereafter.

I assume there is a problem with WPA2 and/or hidden SSIDs.
