I don't think the scan side is the problem... I saved a pdf file from open office and tried to fax is with sendfax and had similar problems with 2.7.8. But I'll try what you suggest anyhow. The problem is that it's hard for me to tell if a fax works because I only have one phone line/fax machine. The scans look fine before I fax them though.
