Comment 22 for bug 1296085

Please try this (it's all one line):

strace -s100 python -c "import hpmudext; print hpmudext.make_usb_uri('002','004')"

Replace 002 and 004 with the USB bus/device as before. Hopefully this will tell us why it isn't spotting the printer.
