Looks like maybe your compute service endpoint isn't reachable? The reason this error was made recoverable is so that the user can select a different page, a different region, or log out. But mainly this was done to support multiple regions where some of them might have issues. If we send the user to an error page they can't do anything, when maybe they just want to select a different region in this case. But I agree it should be an error message like the rest so that should be fixed.
