okay, several points here:

1) widget have shortcut, Alt+n just do what you want = direct select amount 0.00 ready to input something else.

2) tab is also a way with more tab press, to do this

3) your scenario is okay for you usage and preference, it may disturb others, as we will force to input amount first for everyone

what may be interesting to everyone, if possible, is maybe the following:
when you click on the amount widget AND the amount is 0.00
=> empty the text
